Before we tell you what we’ve been up to (and what Werner said at re:Invent that really hit home), we’d like to thank you for being part of our community in 2024.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! We hope you’re celebrating with friends and family and we’re looking forward to a peaceful, productive year in 2025.
Speaking of productive… the IOD team was in Vegas this month to attend their 13th consecutive AWS re:Invent. As connected as our world has become, there’s something about an in-person conference that you can’t get from the comfort of your office. Cramming so many experiences into just a few days, plus the serendipity of wandering the expo floor, always make for a productive trip.
Read on to discover some of our biggest takeaways from re:Invent 2024.
With so many big tech events, we have to be choosy. Which conferences were can’t-miss for 2024? Big Data LDN, KubeCon, RSAC 2024, and Google Cloud Summit TLV were just a few of the highlights.
New this year was the invitation-only AWS GenAI Analyst Summit, where Ofir took in a Seattle Seahawks game, beyond sampling the best of what’s to come in GenAI and exploring some of the biggest challenges right now. (Speaking of AI, read on for his first impressions of Anthropic’s high-end model Claude 3.5 Sonnet.)
We try to choose events that offer a lot of nitty-gritty: the broadest, deepest insights into cloud leaders and trends, as well as the needs and pain points of practitioners who are using the tech every single day: security teams, DevOps, AI engineers, and others.
Who knew time would be the next big thing in cloud?
But AWS CTO Werner Vogels is rarely wrong. At re:Invent this year, he declared time to be a new primitive, a fundamental building block for cloud services. With the rise of massive active-active distributed databases, we can’t afford to take clock synchronization for granted. Our team went into re:Invent expecting wall-to-wall GenAI, and we got that in spades, but came away pleasantly surprised. Here’s why.
The surprise release of Claude 3.5 Sonnet just a few months after its previous iteration (followed by the lighter-weight Claude 3.5 Haiku) created buzz around Anthropic’s AI play. Sure, it creates cohesive code (as opposed to just snippets), offers advanced reasoning, and accepts feedback. Add in fast speeds, visual recognition, a special AWS partnership, and… well, check out this post to find out why we think the hype is justified.
Looking to drive traffic or build buzz with a blog post series? Win over hands-on users with fun, easy-to-follow tutorials? Build thought leadership and captivate the c-suite with white papers and industry analysis? Build a video resource library to streamline the user journey?
IOD offers all this and more as part of our end-to-end expert-based tech content marketing services.
This month, we’re showcasing video samples that helped clients get their message across:
Short Explainer: What Is DSPM? (Wiz)
Tech Tutorial: How to Harden a Kubernetes Cluster (ARMO)
Quick Demo: One-Stop Observability Platform for Website Monitoring (Zoho)
Short Explainer: Proxy Server Explainer (Bright Data)
From research and script writing, brand alignment, visual layout, storyboard, and animation, IOD covers the entire video production lifecycle. See all that IOD has to offer; from content strategy & editorial planning to video & creative, design, and more.
Happy New Year!
As we power down 2024 and prepare to spin up 2025, we want to thank you for being part of the growing IOD community. Wishing you a peaceful, productive, and perfectly provisioned new year.
